Targeted to healthcare providers, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has released a new public service health campaign (https://www.cdc.gov/screenoutcancer/) to call attention to the importance of regular screenings for breast, cervical, and colorectal cancers. The Screen Out Cancer campaign is designed to raise awareness to ensure that patients and providers know that prevention begins with knowledge.

The campaign focuses on implementing three strategies:

The message to healthcare professionals and patients speaks not only to the health aspects of cancer screenings but to the economics aspects as well. CDC offers many print and electronic brochures to assist in promoting screenings. Nurses are key to sharing that message with their patients, families, and communities (https://voice.ons.org/news-and-views/cancer-prevention-oncology-nurses-save-lives-by-raising-awareness).
