PITTSBURGH, PA—July, 20, 2018—After launching new projects and redesigning existing publications, the Oncology Nursing Society took home five Excel awards during the Association of Media & Publishing’s (AM&P’s) Excel Gala held on June 25, 2018, in Washington, DC. Excel awards are presented to nonprofit organization publications that exceed industry standards, setting them apart from the crowd through excellence, aptitude, and innovation. ONS’s winning publications were the Clinical Journal of Oncology Nursing (CJON), ONS Voice, and the new Oncology Nursing Podcast.

After a recent redesign, CJON received a gold award—top honors from AM&P—for its new layout, structure, and presentation. The journal also received a silver award for general excellence for its August, October, and December 2017 issues. CJON was also recently awarded a 2018 APEX Award for Excellence in Magazine, Journals, and Tabloids for most improved from Communication Concepts, an organization that advises publications on best practices in print.

ONS Voice received a silver Excel award for its recent print redesign, along with a bronze award for the digital redesign. The new Oncology Nursing Podcast received a bronze award in the category of membership podcasts.

“On behalf of the entire CJON production and editorial teams, I am so pleased for this recognition from AM&P’s Excel Awards, representing extraordinary work at CJON,” Ellen Carr, RN, MSN, AOCN®, CJON editor, said. “These awards remind us all that a focused mission, operational experience, creativity, and teamwork are the foundation of excellence. For CJON, that foundation of excellence produces quality content that lifts and advances the practice of all clinical oncology nurses.”
