BRCA1 is a genetic test; however, it is performed on the blood, not tumor cells.

CA 27.29 is a breast cancer tumor marker, a substance secreted by the tumor and plays a significant role in staging and diagnosis.

CTCs are used to detect microscopic metastases and may be prognostic of recurrence.
