American Academy of Nursing Inducts 11 ONS Members as 2023 Fellows

September 05, 2023

WASHINGTON, DC—September 5, 2023—Eleven Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) members were honored among the highly distinguished nurse leaders inducted into the American Academy of Nursing’s (AAN’s) 2023 Class of Fellows. In total, the Academy will recognize 253 inductees—its largest cohort to date—at its annual conference on October 5–7, 2023, in Washington, DC.

“ONS congratulates these 11 individuals in recognition of their achievements and their outstanding contributions to the field of oncology nursing,” ONS Chief Executive Officer Brenda M. Nevidjon, MSN, RN, FAAN, said. “Being inducted as an AAN fellow is the highest of honors for nurses.”

AAN represents more than 3,000 nursing leaders and experts in policy, research, administration, practice, and academia who have made extraordinary contributions to improve health from local to global levels. Fellows represent today’s thought leaders and the diversity of the nursing profession’s policy leaders, practitioners, educators, and innovators. Induction into the Academy is a significant milestone that allows a fellow’s colleagues—both in and outside the profession—to honor their past and current accomplishments. The 2023 fellows completed a rigorous application process and were selected based on their contributions to advance public health.

The 11 ONS members in the 2023 class hail from five states and a variety of oncology subspecialties:

ONS is a professional association that represents 100,000 nurses and is the professional home to more than 35,000 members. ONS is committed to promoting excellence in oncology nursing and the transformation of cancer care.
