AMA, AHA, ANA Send Trump Administration Letter Encouraging Transition
The Biden transition team needs full cooperation and (https://www.ama-assn.org/press-center/press-releases/ama-aha-ana-urge-administration-work-biden-transition-team) all critical information regarding the COVID-19 coronavirus, the American Medical Association (AMA), American Hospital Association (AHA) and American Nurses Association (ANA) said in a November 2020 letter to the Trump administration.
“All information about the capacity of the Strategic National Stockpile (https://www.phe.gov/about/sns/Pages/default.aspx), the assets from Operation Warp Speed (https://www.hhs.gov/coronavirus/explaining-operation-warp-speed/index.html), and plans for dissemination of therapeutics and vaccines needs to be shared as quickly as possible to ensure that there is continuity in strategic planning so that there is no lapse in our ability to care for patients,” the associations wrote.
Healthcare leaders are discussing nursing’s responsibility (https://voice.ons.org/advocacy/nurses-have-a-critical-role-in-responding-to-covid-19-nam-says) in responding to the pandemic and establishing campaigns (https://voice.ons.org/advocacy/provider-groups-announce-campaign-urging-public-to-wearamask) to minimize infections, but support must come from federal (https://voice.ons.org/advocacy/how-the-cares-act-and-other-covid-19-laws-affect-nursing-and-health-care) levels as well. COVID-19 has changed how government (https://voice.ons.org/advocacy/did-covid-19-transform-traditional-american-politics) operates, and political leaders, regardless of party, must make a better, more coordinated effort in the name of public health.
