Perhaps you know a nurse who continuously goes above and beyond, or an employer who takes care of its employees. ONS recognizes oncology nurses, researchers, and employees each year who go above and beyond the call of duty. These awards celebrate individuals and teams in a variety of specialties. Learn more about each award and how it may apply to you, your institution, or someone you know. The deadline for nominations is September 30, 2016.
Lilly Oncology Advancing Patient Care Project
Submit your idea for a project in need of funding. The project can focus on anything from professional development, patient care, or nursing leadership. ONS will award the winner up to $5,000 in funding.
Distinguished Awards
Nominate someone making strides in his or her career and contributing to cancer care. To qualify, an ONS Member must nominate another ONS member. Each opportunity includes a $2,000 award, a plaque, and travel reimbursement to attend ONS Annual Congress. A distinguished award recognizes honorary members, researchers, consistent contributors, and lifetime achievement recipients.
Excellence Awards
To win any of the 11 Excellence Awards, an ONS Member must be nominated by another ONS member. Each opportunity includes a $250 award, plaque, and travel reimbursement to attend ONS Congress. Fields of expertise may include: advocacy, education, management, radiation therapy, surgery, medicine, prevention, transplants, and more.
Pearl Moore “Making A Difference” Awards
Nominate individuals or teams who go the extra mile to improve the lives of patients with cancer. Each opportunity includes a $250 award, plaque, and travel reimbursement to attend ONS Congress. To qualify, an ONS Member must nominate another ONS member. A Making A Different Award recognizes frontline care, teamwork, leadership, and international contributors.
Employer Recognition Awards
Nominate an institution that demonstrates commitment to the ONS mission, vision, and values. Awards are granted to the intuition based on size category. Each award allows the institution to further support oncology nurses by granting sets of free registration to an ONS educational activity and credit for ONS publications or other items.
Research and Clinical Lectureships
Nominate someone who displays excellence in research and clinical practice. Each recipient receives $2,000, a plaque, and travel reimbursement to attend ONS Annual Congress. Recipients also present a lecture at Congress about an essential aspect of oncology nursing, research, or cancer care. To qualify, an ONS Member must nominate another ONS member.
Publishing Awards
The Publishing Awards honor nurses who have put their thoughts and findings into words. ONS recognizes writers and contributors to patient education literature, quantitative, and qualitative nursing research.
All full-length articles in the appropriate volume of Clinical Journal of Oncology Nursing or Oncology Nursing Forum are considered. ONS does not accept nominations or applications.
Immunotherapy Challenge
ONS funds nurses who develop immunotherapy resources or create projects for staff or patient education and awareness. To apply, you must be a registered nurse and ONS member. Winners receive up to $5,000 to design and implement their project.
